Integrate 30,000 cars into existing 25,000 car legacy fleet. Lead weekly shop network calls to ensure SMBC expectations are communicated to repair networks. Manage combined fleet during shop maintenance across 70+ facilities.Plan and manage 3,000+ annual tank car shoppings for regulatory compliance. Coordinate between internal sales team, mechanical officers, major shop network sales representatives, plant managers, 3rd party maintenance management teams, and the customer's personnel to execute on the shopping program. Drive total average compliance shoppings down to sub-60 day turns including jacketed + lined cars.Strengthen relationships with lessees to work towards a common goal to clear any outstanding billing disputes. Resolve disputed items including but not limited to HM216B inspections, coil tests, valve replacement / maintenance, and linings. Reach an agreement with the lessee during shop estimate and prior to final invoicing to ease workload on finance teams for both entities.Develop annual maintenance business plan for both legacy SMBC and recently acquired ARL fleets, factoring in varying cost assumptions. Areas of focus centered on running repairs, shoppings, requalification events, tank car retrofits, inspections, management fees, and ad valorem tax. Significant efforts to model compliance plan with breakouts for volume, expense, capitalization, deferrals, and abatement expected by month and account. Budget followed by monthly reviews of actual spend and volumes against approved plan.

Financial Analyst
Maintain the general ledger across the railroad and over 100 subsidiary companies – 1,000 balance sheet accounts; 1,000 cost element/income statement accounts, cost centers, costing sheets & internal orders (overheads & settlements), and monitor inter-company balances.Assist in month-end close – ensure entries post to the correct month across entire rail system, perform foreign currency valuations, subsidiary revenue / expense eliminations, and record equity company income / loss.Maintain sawtooth leases – review monthly SAP entries which adjust asset / liability balances in the millions of dollars, record quarterly asset / liability re-class, adjust schedules based on rent holidays, equipment casualties, and early buy-outs.Prepare railroad-only versions of 10K and 10Q; assist in industry reporting to Surface Transportation Board (R-1); prepare executive reports for the proxy; and compile financial statements for UP Foundation and a jointly-owned interchange company.
