I am an expert in the implementation of advanced engineering to enable innovative design and justify continued use of existing structures.I have a successful track record in the completion and management of multi-disciplinary engineering projects in the energy, infrastructure, offshore and built environment sectors. I am expert in the use of advanced engineering methods, both numerical simulation and use of monitoring data, to enable both innovative design and justify the life extension and continued use of existing structures and infrastructure e.g. Offshore Wind turbine foundations and bridges.I have led the detailed design of minimum-intervention remedial strengthening solutions for wind turbine generator foundations on several offshore wind farms and also acted as an Expert Witness in the area of offshore wind turbine foundation design, including giving evidence.I have led the structural re-assessment of several Concrete Gravity Sub-structure (CGS) offshore oil and gas platforms including justification of change of use, strengthening to enable decommissioning and long term life assessment.Specialisms: Life extension and refurbishment of infrastructure (bridges, offshore wind turbine foundations and oil & gas platforms); design, due-diligence assessment and decommissioning of energy infrastructure (nuclear power stations, offshore renewables - both wind and wave, and oil & gas platforms); fatigue simulation; structural health monitoring; seismic assessment & design; linear & non-linear finite element analysis (FEA); failure and structural collapse simulation.
