The hourly workforce is represented by Teamsters Local 89.Manufacturing Manager • Monitors output of assigned hopper and special vessel production areas; oversees and participates in problem resolution • Directs daily production operations through effective personal interaction with area managers and employees • Ensures that safety audits, inspection of plant equipment and operations, evaluation of maintenance & safety conditions and correction of malfunctions and deficiencies are performed in a timely manner • Ensures delivery of a high quality product to the customer as committed by the business plan• Provides input on the department budget; monitors operating expenses; ensures cost control; identifies profit improvement opportunities • Ensures that all employees are adequately trained in safe work practices and job related technical skills required to meet production schedules, quality specifications and customer satisfaction • Conducts management performance evaluations and makes recommendations regarding hiring, discharging, disciplinary actions, demotions and promotions• Ensures that all management team members are in compliance with company policies & procedure and collective bargaining agreement as applicable to the supervision of production employees• Ensures that all environmental and government regulations are implemented and maintained • Successfully managed the shipyard with many probationary employees on a 2nd shift operation during production demand ramp ups.• Responsible for managing the sandblasting, pressure washing and painting new barges, towboats and refurbishing other marine transportation equipment.• Developed and maintained a good working relationship with required governmental agencies in the inspection and completion of marine equipment (United States Coast Guard and American Bureau of Shipping).
