Founded the Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) organization and managed all Automation & Reporting activities for multiple manufacturing locations. Evaluated, negotiated, and approved contracts with external vendors providing general application, equipment software, and database design, software development, and support. Created a reporting system and informational portal to act as transformative tools for Operations to align shop floor activities with strategic goals.

Managed database and automation system upgrades, migrations, and operations throughout the critical startup of the semiconductor FAB and the ensuing 10-fold production ramp-up over 10 months. Utilized Web and database technologies to extend legacy system lifetime and facilitate data/knowledge acquisition, retention, and presentation.

Designed and implemented tool controller architecture using SEMI standard GEM/SECS protocols and enterprise database systems. Architecture was implemented using custom-written tool controllers that read configuration data stored in a local databases that were replicated from a centrally controlled database. The tool controllers stored all parametric and transactional data to the local database that was then replicated up to the central database server. The architecture allowed for network and server downtime without interrupting 24/7 manufacturing operations.

Administered Unix-based Unisys relational database system that ran all aspects of the business. Used C programming to create database functions, interfaces, and auxiliary applications including an automated part list transfer from CAD to a machine parts database and a database-driven inventory tracking system employing handheld barcode scanning devices.
