The United States International Trade Commission (USITC) is an independent, quasijudicial Federal agency with broad investigative responsibilities on matters of trade. The agency investigates the effects of dumped and subsidized imports on domestic industries and conducts global safeguard investigations. The Commission also adjudicates cases involving imports that allegedly infringe intellectual property rights. Through such proceedings, the agency facilitates a rules-based international trading system. The Commission also serves as a Federal resource where trade data and other trade policy-related information are gathered and analyzed. The information and analysis are provided to the President, the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR), and Congress to facilitate the development of sound and informed U.S. trade policy. The Commission makes most of its information and analysis available to the public to promote understanding of international trade issues.

The mission of the NMIC is to collect, analyze, and disseminate information on the domestic and international supply of and demand for mineral materials essential to the U.S. economy and national security. -Served as expert consultant on assigned mineral commodities, provided technical and advisory services on mineral commodity data and information for business and industry representatives, foreign representatives, the general public, other agencies and committees, and higher level USGS officials.-Analyzed and validated mineral commodity data and information gathered by the USGS from periodic surveys (annual and monthly) of industry respondents and other proprietary sources. -Determined and evaluated reserves, mine and plant capacities, and operational status of mines, plants, and companies for mineral commodities.-Produced hundreds of reports (monthly and annual) on assigned mineral commodities including Mineral Industry Surveys and Minerals Yearbook Chapters and Mineral Commodity Summaries. These published reports provided unique and vital information to academia, industry, agencies in Federal and State Government, and the general public.-Performed technical and peer review for accuracy of more than 50 periodic reports and special publications related to mineral commodities.-Represented U.S. delegation at annual meeting of International Lead and Zinc Study Group and presented production and consumption forecasts to audience of members.-Traveled to mineral commodity producer sites and attended industry related trade conferences to improve cooperation and quality of survey data received from respondents and to increase understanding of mineral commodity markets.

The PPI s considered to be the key inflation indicator for the business sector of the economy and as such is one of the Nation’s most important economic indicators. -Responsible for calculation and publication of wholesale price indexes of several high-profile industries including electronic computer manufacturing, semiconductors, and computer storage devices.-Performed all functions necessary to introduce new industries for index calculation. At the conclusion of each project, a package of professional quality materials was presented to the field staff for use in data collection activities. These finished packages included market research papers, refined manufacturer information and other industry specific materials. -Performed all functions necessary to maintain monthly index calculation and publication. This included a thorough review of price data received from hundreds of program respondents with analysis. Problems with data were identified and resolved on a timely basis with an low error rate.-Prepared monthly index updates for management using statistical analysis and industry reports to explain price trends. These reports were presented to the assistant commissioner and staff on a regular basis.-Member of an interdepartmental team of economists that developed models for use in quality adjusting high tech industries. Responsible for working with higher-level technical consultants and developing quarterly hedonic models for use in computer industry indexes.-Served as technical expert to the public for assigned industries and PPI concepts and methods.
