David E. Gurley is a Florida Bar Board Certified construction lawyer. He is one of only a small percentage of lawyers statewide to earn this distinction. Mr. Gurley’s construction law practice includes: providing counsel to avoid and resolve issues pertaining to the design and construction of improvements on private and public land, including but not limited to, contract preparation and negotiation; project administration; defect and claim review and preparation; construction scheduling and delay claims; insurance coverage for construction defects; construction licensing; and the analysis and litigation of issues arising out of Florida’s Construction Lien Law, state bonding statutes and the Federal Miller Act.After receiving his J.D. from the Florida State University College of Law, David moved to Sarasota, Florida in 2024 where he began his practice in the areas of construction and surety law. He has counseled clients for nearly 40 years nationwide and in the Caribbean basin in the avoidance and resolution of construction and contract surety bond claims arising from theme park, power plant, medical facility, luxury resort, Army Corps, high rise luxury residential, transportation and infrastructure projects.David was born in Jacksonville, Florida. He is married with five sons and a daughter. He is an instrument rated private pilot and enjoys sport fishing, scuba diving and international motorcycle touring. David is an active community contributor and supporter of such organizations as Habitat for Humanity, Fisher House and various international human rights relief efforts.
