As Head of UK Operations, I am accountable for delivering safe, compliant and world-class performance for operating Vattenfall´s offshore windfarms in the United Kingdom.

Since being promoted from the position of Service Leader into the position of Operations Leader my role within Vattenfall has changed a great deal. I am now much more involved in the managerial aspects of running two offshore windfarms.My main responsibilities revolve around managing the stakeholder relationships and contractual interfaces with those we are in partnership with. I am also responsible for supporting the UK generation team with activities such as implementation of common procedures and development of new operational processes and systems. In addition to this my roles included leading a coaching the team of Service Leaders and Technicians on site ensure all employees are working to the best of their abilities. Other tasks include operational control, SAP key user, coordination and planning, preparing monthly reports, assisting in internal and external audits of management systems and deputising for the Site Manager.I am also an Senior Authorised Person for the switching of windfarm plant and apparatus up to 33kV. Providing a safe system of work in relation to the isolation and earthing of the high and low voltage electrical and mechanical equipment, This includes the preparation, issue, clearance, transfer and cancellation of site safety documents including access documents, permit to work and sanction for test.

At the Thanet Offshore Windfarm the Service Leader is an integral part of the Operations team on site and reports into the O&M manager/site manager. The Service Leader interfaces with the contractor’s supervisors and site manager and supervises the contractors’ employees (primarily technicians)Main Responsibilities & Work Tasks• Operational control: day to day management of control of work process (review of RAMS, senior authorised person for standard work permits). Authority level for specialist activities dependent on experience/skills/knowledge• HV switching (Authorised Person or Senior Authorised Person depending on experience/qualification)• Coordination and planning of maintenance activities with contractors and vattenfall service team to optimise production• Supervision of contractors and sub contractors • Carry out safety audits and inspections of own personnel and contractors• Monitoring of wind farm performance, local adjustment of availability calculations, and carrying out alarm analysis• Preparing routine daily, weekly and monthly performance reports• Recommendations for improvement of operational procedures. • Deputise for O&M Manager/Site Manager as required• Local key user for SAP PM/DMS/MM, responsible for logging in and tracking service work into SAP systems• Marine supervision: vessel and personnel auditing and monitoring/Tracking. • Support with onshore facilities management and site administrative activities as required.• Assist in internal and external audits of O&M processes and performance• Logging of service work into plant maintenance system
