Working closely with the operations Directors and senior management team to ensure the efficient and effective operation of all electrical and mechanical services across all GFM sites.

Assisting in the design and delivery of the M&E for a wide variety of projects. Typical responsibilities include; selection of design team; input to value engineering and plant and equipment selection; selection of M&E contractor; assistance with analysis of technical submissions; on site quality control; vetting of operation and maintenance manuals; post practical completion defect management.

Director responsible for Mechanical contracting operations. From initial costing through to design, installation and finally commissioning involved in and responsible for the delivery of the project.

Whilst working at Booth Imperial I was approached by the owners / Directors of Cheshire Contracting and Control, an established electrical contractor, who wished to set up a mechanical contracting business. Having declined a role with them as a manager we eventually agreed I would join them as a Director and part owner of the new mechanical (HVAC) business. Within twelve months we had added over £1.5M to the turnover of HVAC projects and been accepted as members of the HVCA, the industry association. We continued to increase both turnover and profitability undertaking a wide range of projects including office buildings, car show rooms (both new build and refurbishment), retail outlets, schools, sports halls, hospitals, student accommodation and high end residential. We particularly excelled at design and build projects where we were able to identify value engineering opportunities that still delivered the employer's requirements without compromising on quality. This often gave us opportunities to work with main contractors through the tender or negotiation stages of the proposed project to give an over all value engineered solution, not simply looking at the M&E detached from the building process.

I joined Booth Imperial as a business develop manager to increase both their AC contracting business but also to help develop them into a service and FM provider. The intent ultimately was to be part of an management buy out from the owner.

I joined Trend to work as an account manager in the north west just as they launched the IQ3 Excite range of controllers in the UK. After initial product training I temporarily joined the marketing team to launch the product via a series of road shows throughout the UK over a two month period. I then took over a territory in the north west serving the needs of the Trend systems houses and technology centres. My broad based HVAC background was particularly useful in helping to develop value engineered solutions.

Rosser and Russell were a London based HVCA and Electrical contractor that had opened a north west office in Salford, Manchester. I joined them as a business development manager in order to increase their market penetration. After three years in this role the turnover of the north west office had increased to £7,5M and the order book was full.

Re-joined Atlantic boilers, based in their northern office, to take over the commissioning and servicing operation of the business. This included interfacing with the HVAC contractors to ensure suitability of the controls systems. I was also responsible for providing support and training to the service and commissioning engineers, factory visits for new equipment assessments and manufacturing inspections.

Joined the north west office of Satchwell Controls as a systems sales engineer in the service division. This principally entailed providing controls solutions to end user businesses rather than through HVAC contractors and consultants, requiring us to identify a need for the customer and then provide a cost effective solution. Main drivers were improved energy management and environmental comfort.

Initially joined as an internal sales support Engineer, providing technical assistance to the sales team and carrying out site surveys for proposed boiler installations. In October 1987 moved from the head office in Lancashire to London to open a sales office to cover London and the South of England. Over the next four years continued to increase sales of boilers and plant room equipment in this region until I decided to move back to the north west and look for a new challenge,
