David Hamilton is a principal at Praxis3 Architects. He shares responsibility for guiding overall design at the 75 person Atlanta firm with principals Stuart Romm, Brian Tanner, Craig James, Marks Alexander and Ryan Stancill. He has played a primary role in the development of both the Mixed-Use and Cultural / Institutional Studios, where he has served as lead designer on several major projects. He has over 35 years of experience working as an architect at several Atlanta architectural firms, among them, Verge Studios and Lord, Aeck, Sargent Architecture.David has worked on notable civic and public design projects in Atlanta. He is one of the originators of the Architecture Society of Atlanta’s Olympic Projects Program, “Atlanta 1996”; helped to launch the program’s first project, The International Boulevard Design Charrette; and conceptualized and managed the international design competition, “Public Space in the New American City / Atlanta 1996”. He was the 2008-2011 Board Co-chair of the Metropolitan Public Art Coalition (MPAC) and helped to organize, and served on, the Architect Selection Committee for the Center for Civil and Human Rights. David currently serves on the Board of the Freedom Park Conservancy where he was Board Chair for 2014 and 2015. David has served on the City of Atlanta Beltline Design Review Committee since its inception. He also currently serves on the Central Atlanta Progress (CAP) Arts and Entertainment District Committee.David is also active in the architecture, design and art communities in Atlanta. He served as a board member of the Architecture Society of Atlanta, and served as President in 1994-1996 . He currently serves as a member of the board of the Architecture and Design Center where he is Vice-Chair. He also co-founded the Public Domain Arts Group. He is a frequent review critic at the Georgia Tech School of Architecture and the Kennesaw State College of Architecture.David received a Masters degree in architecture (MArch) from Clemson University in 1981, where he participated in the college's European study program in Genoa, Italy.
