FreelanceSlate Post Production Jul 2006 - Oct 2007Dublin, Ireland.I was contracted by Locky Butler, owner/M.D. of Slate Post Production in Dublin, as Sound Supervisor and Senior Dubbing Mixer on RTE's flagship drama "The Clinic".There were 10 x one hour episodes in the 2006 season series and a further 10 x one-hour episodes in 2007. The show was awarded an I.F.T.A. (Irish Film & Television Award - the Irish equivalent of BAFTA) in 2007.I thoroughly enjoyed all the work on both seasons, which included fitting foley, ADR, spot effects, music editing, dialogue pre-mixing and final mixing, then creating the various separates for the deliverables. I fell in love wth Dublin, and the people there were great to work with.

Owner/M.D.China Blue Limited 1997 - 2006Soho, LondonChina Blue was an independent Soho Post Production Sound and Video Facility. We specialised in broadcast television and several productions I worked on won awards, including "10 Days to D-Day" which won a B.A.F.T.A. I carried out a variety of work on dramas, documentaries, comedy shows, sports programs, films, and foreign language corporate videos. (For examples see my website). For those interested in such things "China Blue" got its name because we were in a building in Wedgwood Mews, the location of Josiah Wedgwood's London showroom for his famous pottery, and not just because of the lyric ". . .reflect in Vincent's eyes of China Blue" from Don Maclean's song "Vincent".

Head Of Audio DepartmentComplete Video Post Production 1982 - 1995As a Senior Sound Supervisor I was, for the first few years, "Joint Head of Sound" with my friend and colleague Wouter van Herwerden until he left to go to the States, at which time I held that postion on my own. I was invited to join the Board of Complete as a Director. When I joined the company it had fewer than 20 employees; by the time I left in 1995 it had over 80.Complete was originally a broadcast facility editing sound and pictures for all kinds of television programmes, music videos and film trailers. Gradually the emphasis shifted away from broadcast towards commercials. As a result, over the years, I have been involved in the making of every conceivable kind advert, music and light entertainment show, documentary, film, tv, radio and video for broadcast and sale.

Music Recording Engineer And ProducerOlympic Studios 1972 - 1982Barnes, London.During my time at Olympic, I had one of the industry's real legends Chief Engineer Keith Grant as my mentor. I recorded a vast range of different types of music and artists including the original "Evita" and "Cats" albums. "Don't Cry for Me Argentina" was a Number One Hit. I also recorded and mixed two versions of "Memory" - one by Elaine Paige and one by Barbra Streisand - both of which reached the Top 10. I even recorded an instrumental version with Gary Moore playing the melody as only he could! The USA Cast Album of "Evita", which I mixed, won a Grammy. While there I worked with such diverse artists as The Man Band, Hawkwind, The London Symphony Orchestra, Alan Price, Hank Marvin, Barbra Streisand, Roy Wood, Gallagher and Lyle, Focus, Lemmy, The London Gospel Choir, Paul Jones, Uli Roth (Scorpions) and Eric Faulkner (Bay City Rollers).Studio One at Olympic used to be one of the greatest recording rooms anywhere. Artists like The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Perry Como, The Eagles, Barbra Streisand, Jimi Hendrix, Lena Horne, The Who, Joan Armatrading, Eric Clapton and Rod Stewart all recorded there. I loved my time at Olympic. We worked hard but above all it was fun!
