The Urban Development Institute of Australia Queensland’s (the Institute) policy committees ensure that the Institute remains in touch with member needs and the needs of the broader community in their quest to create world class communities for Queenslanders. The Institute has an extensive and consultative structure of committees to provide feedback and advice to government and other stakeholders on a range of issues impacting on the industry.The scope of the Industry Advisory Group Committee (the Committee) includes:• Provide advice to the Institute and its members on key government priorities• The oversight of issues relating to the key state instruments designed to achieve intergovernmental co-ordination in planning, land supply, and infrastructure delivery• Review curriculum and syllabus for professional development course and other education materials produced by the Institute• Provide thought leadership and innovation for the industry in this area• Contribute creative suggestions for the Institute’s events and member communication about government priorities and reforms.

Regional Development Australia (RDA) is a partnership between the Australian, state, territory and local governments to grow and strengthen the nation's regions, and ensure their long-term sustainability.There are 55 RDA Committees around Australia, including 12 in Queensland, each made up of committed local champions with a strong grass roots understanding of their regions. RDA Committees work with their communities to identify opportunities, challenges and priorities for action. They are local people developing local solutions to local issues.RDA Brisbane works within the Brisbane Local Government Area and its role is to:- support regional planning across all levels of government- work with the community to identify and take action on critical economic, social and environmental issues- provide advice to local communities and government on programs and services which will help develop new opportunities in the region- contribute to workforce skilling and participation strategies, innovation and technology opportunities and social inclusion strategies.RDA Brisbane builds relationships across all spheres of government, the private sector and the community. The Planning Institute of Australia (PIA) is the national professional body representing qualified planners throughout Australia. PIA represents and supports nearly 5000 planners in its many divisions in every state and territory with more than 1100 professional planners making up membership of the progressive and energetic PIA Queensland Division.The priority for PIA Queensland is to promote excellence in planning through education, professional development and its strong relationships with government departments, local authorities and other related industry bodies. PIA Queensland's active profile has made it an essential part of the professional lives of Queensland planners.High on the agenda for PIA Queensland is not only the ongoing improvement in planning, but also the continual improvement in the planning industry and its people. PIA overseas a Professional Development program initiating no less than 40 activities each year, and runs a major conference each year in one of its five Queensland regions.Many members serve on the Queensland Divisional Committee and their work along with the work of many other regional committees ensures a cohesive and informed planning community. Each year the PIA Queensland Awards for Planning Excellence allows for outstanding achievements in planning and design to be recognised and communicated to the Queensland community with high achievers going on to be recognised at a national level.
