As head of Mechanical R&D I oversee the design team in developing new product lines for the oil and gas market. These can be customer led projects or developing our own range of products and technologies. Often these require innovative solutions to meet the requirements of the market. The team includes mechanical engineers (graduate through to senior levels), test engineers (including electronics and hydraulics), draughtsmen and test technicians.My responsibilities include:Day to day management of the design teamRecruitment, Training and Development of team membersProject management on key strategic projectsProject oversight for junior engineers Setting departmental strategy, contributing to company strategyMonitoring and meeting team KPIsOverseeing QHSE within department
