About David Harmer

Passionate, driven and highly motivated performance sport specialist with a variety of experience across high performance sport, sport science, higher education and sports brand marketing/associations. Working for over 14 years as a professional coach, I have taken on a diverse range of roles - from working with youth development programs in schools, to working with Olympic Gold Medallists at the highest levels of world sport. Outside of this, I have taught in higher education, worked as a research assistant, and delivered sports marketing campaigns across Europe for major sports brands. I pride myself on effective communication and management skills, being adaptable to work in a variety of roles as part of a multi-disciplinary team, or lead and direct a programme. My academic background in sports science has allowed me to effectively communicate, monitor and analyse relevant research and data with multiple practitioners and stakeholders surrounding high performance teams and their staff, while also being able to translate and deliver/present that information with outside parties. Aside from my academic background, I hold several international coaching licenses and am a certified strength and conditioning specialist with the NSCA.I have worked with both elite male and female athletes across sports, and from multiple continents - exposing me to a variety of high-performance environments. This has undoubtedly developed my ability to work with and understand people of diverse cultural backgrounds and given me significant experience of employing practical solutions in an ever changing, fast-paced (and often challenging) sporting environment.
