Regional Program Director - Southern Africa (Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique, Kenya, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe)Responsible for:• Technical soundness of programming for the Southern African region’s country programs with annual budget of approximately $45m and over 100 staff.• Ensuring field-based, donor-funded contracts and agreements meet or exceed targets and are implemented on-time and within budget. • Directly supervising and mentoring Chiefs of Party and Country Directors who lead Land O'Lakes International Development Division field-based operations, ensuring that strong program management policies, processes and procedures are in place and implemented consistently. • Fostering and maintaining strategic relationships with local, regional and international partners, including donors, government, non-governmental and private sector organizations. • Providing direct support to New Business Development with successfully securing investments from USA Government (USAID – Economic Growth, Food for Peace and Office for Foreign Disaster Relief); United States Department of Agriculture and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. • Part of Land O’Lakes International Development Division worldwide Senior Management Team. The Southern Africa region has been the highest performing region with Land O'Lakes International Development Division. The private sector-led projects focused on developing livestock and crop value chains: dairy; goats; rangeland; animal traction; poultry; rice; cassava and conservation agriculture. Projects funded by USAID, Office Foreign Disaster Assistance and US Department of Agriculture.

Country Manager, ZimbabweResponsible for the administration and management of private sector focused donor-funded programs across Zimbabwe. Duties included: • Managing project timelines, scope, and budgets, ensuring compliance with donor rules and regulations (including not working with the Government of Zimbabwe).• Building capacity within private sector partners and host country national staff. Recognized as Land O'Lakes International Development Division Manager of the Year 2011 whilst overseeing the following projects: • Zimbabwe Dairy Livestock Project - A USAID funded Cooperative Agreement focusing on the dairy value chain and a donkey transport pilot project. Developed several financial products to improve creditworthiness of producers. Project highlighted as one of the most successful USAID projects in southern Africa increasing farmers’ income by over 700%, (USAID final evaluation) and the subject of variety of USAID Mission cables as to its impact.• Zimbabwe Livestock for Accelerated Recovery and Improved Resiliency – A USAID Office Foreign Disaster Assistance - funded small livestock marketing and a Holistic Rangeland Management project targeting 6,000 households linking them with the private sector. • Zimbabwe Agricultural Competitiveness Program - A sub-award to Development Assistance International aimed at supporting the competitiveness of the agriculture industry throughout Zimbabwe.

Responsible for technical agricultural development for Land O'Lakes IDD’s activities in Africa (Liberia, Burundi, Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Mozambique, Madagascar, Namibia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa)Duties included:• Providing advisory services and technical staff training on all areas of small business development; quality; marketing; and livestock husbandry, shaping private sector focused implementation approaches.• Establishing several new initiatives - developing cropping value chain expertise, building on Land O’Lakes’ corporate model for adaptive research; forging closer links with Land O’Lakes’ Corporate Seeds Division within the Africa Region.

Responsible for planning, implementing, reporting and monitoring of two USAID funded projects (budget $30 million) - Title II Food for Peace and the CFAARM consortium with Catholic Relief Services (CRS), CARE, and World Vision International (WVI). Projects focused on agricultural livelihoods (cropping and livestock) and targeting vulnerable households. Achieved significant results such as Title II Zambia project raised income levels from $220 to over $1,000 per year and significantly increased bulked milk supply from 2% to 36% from the small commercial producers for Zambia’s largest milk processor. Provided support to other Land O'Lakes International Development Division’s Africa country programs and assisted the New Business Development unit in proposal formulation. Experience in Namibia, Kenya, Malawi, South Africa and Madagascar. Led the technical design team on a successful bid of a proposal to the Bill and Melinda Gates and Rockefeller Foundations for an Agro-Dealers network to better target resource-poor households. This was the first time an investment was secured from this source.

• Responsible for management of field activities for three USAID projects (Office Foreign Disaster Assistance, Title II and CFAARM consortium with CRS, CARE and WVI). • Small Medium Enterprise business development with milk collection centers and market linkages to commercial processors. • Host country - sub award, development, management and capacity building with partner organizations.

• Reviewed and designed training modules for smallholder producers.

• Implemented policies for out-growers’ washed Arabica coffee, export vegetables and commercial dairy activities. • Developed training material and managed to prepare over 600 smallholder farmers for compliance to UK supermarket standards (Global GAP). • Established a market for washed Arabica coffee (first for Zambia) through ethically traded channels.

• EU-funded project providing management and technical support to Agriflora’s Small Scale Cooperative Export Out-growers’ scheme. • During this period, the repayment rates on the working capital loans moved from 37% to 98%. • The project was seen as a showcase in region of how to involve smallholders in export agriculture. 2001 Consultant, Agriflora’s Small Scale Cooperative Scheme• Reviewed Agriflora’s approach to their out grower model.
