We live in such interesting times -- in a world filled with such opportunities.I'm happy that I've recently completed my goal of attaining a PhD at Missouri S&T in the field of Systems Engineering. I enjoy my "day job" working in the electric meter reading (AMI) industry. I welcome increased use of wind and solar power, but I have concerns that increased proliferation of distributed energy resources (DER) can result in a corresponding decrease in the ability for network operators to control the grid. New technologies need to be developed if we are to reach our goals.
