I started my work career as a trainee store manager for a large joint retail chain, learning and using all aspects of retail management including being seconded to Scotland to open a new hypermarket in Edinburgh.I progressed from a trainee programmer at a major defence company through to becoming a Development Manager for one of the top Lloyd’s underwriting agencies in London during my IT career. Within these 20 years I have gained full life cycle experience from initial user requirements through development, testing, delivery and maintenance. I have achieved this experience in a diverse range of applications for a demanding user base against demanding schedules and applied both budgetary and management standards. I have controlled multi-million-pound projects and multi project programmes, prioritising and managing conflict throughout. I am always customer focused throughout and have proven experience of liaising with third party suppliers of core and business critical systems. I work closely with all aspects of the business and have good communication skills with all levels of the business.For 8 years I acted as a verger at the local church (2008-2016) which involved dealing with people at potentially very happy or very sad times in their life with sensitivity and discretion but ultimately with professionalism. The position involved planning and setting up the church for the event in addition to operating the audio/visual equipment to a trained level of expertise. Ideally, I ensured that the event went smoothly, and everybody could concentrate on their tasks without hindrance. This service was present for church services, charity events, children and musical productions.
