I am a software executive who is passionate about delivering well-crafted software to the marketplace. I enjoy the challenge of pulling together a team of engineers to effectively achieve the strategic goals of an organization.In 30 years of experience in software, I've dealt with most of the varied and significant challenges of leading a team of engineers to deliver objectives in a timely and accountable manner. I enjoy working directly with both people and technology. My preference is to be directly involved, delivering code myself. I enjoy being connected at multiple touch points from specifying the architecture and requirements, managing, coding, and testing.My experience in software includes being a software engineer, database administrator, director of engineering, and Chief Technology Officer. My background includes working for Fortune 50 companies, small startups, and open-source projects. I've had the fun of working with companies that have gone from a handful of employees to publicly-traded entities.In my spare time, I enjoy racing my sailboat in offshore competitions on Lake Superior. I've had fun hacking into my boat's instrument network and standing up an embedded system harvesting real-time performance data to improve the competitive performance of my boat. This has lead me to a strong interest in the hardware and software required to do real-time data analytics and performance optimization.
