I was responsible for a team of staff and volunteers operating and maintaining the canal that runs from Chelmsford to Heybridge in Essex. During my first year I set up three new commercial operations for them generating an additional £40,000 of income. My role included health and safety, customer relations, and the procurement and general co-ordination of maintenance works by staff and volunteers across the 14 miles of tow path. I also delivered training courses on first aid and health and safety to the staff and volunteers.

This includes hearing staff grievances and disciplinary appeals as well as Professional Review Advisory Committees into doctor’s behaviour and any serious clinical incidents.• Formulation of business plans setting out strategic direction and development of hospital services within the operational framework set by the UK Board.• Delivery of hospital services to achieve the business plan objectives and annual EBITDAR targets which I grew by 23% during my five years as General Manager.• Monitoring hospital performance using Key Performance Indicators covering quality, financial, human resources and patient satisfaction.• Continuous review and improvement of the hospital services to ensure they are delivered in an effective and efficient way.• Formulate the hospital marketing strategy through which we achieved significant growth since I joined in 2009 with hospital admissions, revenues and earnings all growing despite challenging conditions in the private sector.• Ensuring constructive partnerships with the local NHS organisations such as Mid Essex Clinical Commissioning Group, Broomfield Hospital, Bupa and other private healthcare insurers, GPs and the local community. Introduction of the Essex Police Accreditation Scheme in the Trust to protect our staff and patients• Commercial and legal negotiations on third party operating franchises with the voluntary and private sector at the hospital.From December 2008 I was the Director of Service Delivery responsible for the day to day operational management of Trust services with a budget of over £160M, employing over 3000 staff. I undertook this role until a Director of Operations was appointed in April 2009 after which I was responsible for Service Improvement and Transformation, as programme director of the Trust Programme Management OfficeI was promoted to Director of Facilities, Development and Planning in 2006. On a day to day basis I was responsible for a £17M estates and facilities budget.I was originally employed by the Trust in 2001 as the Project Manager then promoted to become the Project Director responsible for the £200M Private Finance Initiative Project to Centralise Acute Services in Colchester.
