I am a very driven individual and I am currently a District Inspector with the Office of Public Works. I have also worked in various area's of both Mayo County Council and Galway City Council. I have had two books published by the Collins Press. My first book, published in 2012, ''Irish Country Houses – A Chronicle of Change'', explored the fate of numerous country houses as Ireland changed politically and socially in the 20th century. This was followed in 2014 by ''Irish Country Houses - Portraits and Painters''.As a avid photographer, several of my photos have appeared in the national press, exhibitions and have been used to illustrate the books of other authors. I have also had photographs and articles featured by the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage in exhibitions and on their website. I have produced articles for the Irish Times, the Irish Arts Review, and numerous local papers. I have presented lectures on behalf of the OPW, in several of their historic properties, and for the Irish Georgian Society, both in Dublin and London. I have also contributed to numerous programmes both on TV and radio, speaking about historic structures. I have a large social media following on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook where I promote the history of our built heritage particularly that of my home county of Mayo. I have written numerous articles on my blog about various historic structures which have been read worldwide by over 250,000 people. I am also involved in the initial plans by Mayo County Council to restore Moore Hall in Co. Mayo, a country house which was destroyed by fire in 1923.
