Profile bio

About David Hircock

I have worked extensively around the globe as a respected expert on issues related to human rights, conservation of biodiversity and working with Indigenous Peoples. Particularly related to the supply chains of raw materials and services. If I was to sum up my ongoing life’s work it is based on "Truth to Power". We cannot stand by and let the Indigenous and local communities not have a voice. My work is based on learnings from Elders, such as Dr. Richard Walley (Nyoongar Elder WA) who once told me “there is a reason why we have two ears and only one mouth – we have to learn to listen”. I often work with Indigenous Peoples and marginalized communities in the most remote areas of the world, where they are looking after the last of the worlds natural lands. We need to respect and work with these peoples as equals. My proudest moments are for the people I work with such as Raj Kumari a girl of 5 I met in 2005 in a conflict mica mining zone in India, now she is paid activist, with Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation (Kailash Ji is a dear friend) Raj is making a difference for 100’s of other children. Equally when invited to major UN meetings, I will facilitate youth who I work with to talk, side by side, such as Luk Sherpa of Nepal at the UN Business and Human Rights meeting in Delhi in 2019. Their voices must be heard. When young I was dyslexic, a gift I later found out, as I think very differently, I also express this in my photo and video library of my work around the world, with over 500,000 assets detailing my life journey from activist at college, leading massive Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament marches, to my work with the UN to sitting with Indigenous Peoples on their lands that they are protecting.I am also adaptable, when Covid-19 struck, I developed GIS mapping systems to link in with the communities I work with, I cannot at the moment stand with them on the ground but the mapping programs work in a powerful way, that I am almost standing with them. This mapping also enabled us to successfully provide over 1.5 million meals to the local communities in a time of desperate need.We have to find new ways forward, to make a future for the planet and humanity we have to truly consult with the communities that are supplying natural resources from their lands and protecting the last natural lands and for them to have a powerful voice, that is listened to.

Corporate Sustainability - And Product Development

New York, Ny, Us

My work covers many countries, peoples and concerns, ranging from human rights issues, sustainable farming, and conservation of biodiversity and culture to delivering profitability to corporations. The work demands a fine balance to ensure that social and economic justice occurs at every level of supply chain. Whether they are poor farmers in the high Himalayas to dispossessed people in the rainforest of Brazil. I believe that an informed company can make the right decisions, ensuring profitability at the company level whilst establishing models of good practices that can exceed today’s standards of existing Corporate Social Responsibility.
