I was inspired to pursue the career of Personal Support Worker after my Dad needed around the clock care at home after a stroke. He also has vascular dementia related to his diabetes, so this has inspired me as well to work with those with dementia and Alzheimer's disease. It fills me with great sense of pride in my work to be able to see how my work directly impacts those I come in contact with. I love being able to provide residents/clients with a sense of independence and dignity, to help them to do the things they may no longer be able to do unassisted.
