Scoop Digital is a boutique digital consulting firm with clients including business, government and the community sector in WA. In addition to web development and digital marketing services, we provide independent advice for digital strategy development, a much needed service in a rapidly changing digital environment where quality independent advice is critical for business success. We also own and manage several unique digital assets including the largest online guides for arts, events, travel and lifestyle in WA. This allows us to provide bespoke industry-wide solutions for key market sectors in WA, including the recently launched www.scoopwines.com and the pending launch of www.scoopevents.com.au and www.scooptraveller.com.au.

Perth Western Australia

I founded, owned and managed Scoop Publishing from September 1997 to April 2016. It was the leading magazine publishing company in Western Australia and at its peak produced 15 magazines (including five outside of WA) and employed 52 full time staff. It also produced some of the state's leading digital assets, including the leading online guides for arts, events, travel and lifestyle in Western Australia. As founder and owner, I was responsible for sales and marketing, print and digital product development and the editorial direction and management of all products. Over that time I consulted to more than 1,000 businesses, interviewed numerous politicians, business and community leaders and worked with all the leading industry associations and lobby groups, providing me with a sound understanding of business, politics and community. Scoop Publishing was closed on April 22nd, a result of digital competition and significant decline in the WA economy.

I worked for one year in the Management Consultancy division of Hartley Poynton with John Poynton and three ex-McKinsey consultants, including Mark Barnaba and Geoff Rasmussen. During that time I worked as a consultant and team leader on several projects focused on cost-reduction, profitability analysis and strategy development. This experience provided me with an understanding of and experience with the tools and processes associated with the world's leading business consulting firm. Employment with Hartley Poynton ended with the departure of John Poynton and the development of an independent consulting firm, for which I worked with one final time before founding Scoop Publishing.

Japan

I worked in Japan for four years in various positions, during which time I developed a business-level proficiency in Japanese. My final 12 months was spent in executive recruitment with East West Consulting, recruiting Japanese executives for foreign companies working the domestic market. Most interviews were conducted in Japanese. In addition to strong language skills, this experience gave me a strong understanding of Japanese business culture.
