Technical lead on analysis of telemetry sent from next-gen DNA sequencing devices. My work focuses on building systems that provide insight to R&D and allow for the debugging and understanding of in-field problems. I am working to understand the performance of the product and conditions in which performance is sub-standard.Work includes:• Working with scientists and engineers to explore and exploit new datasets as the product offering increases.• Automation of initial exploratory analyses and novel metrics into production pipelines.• In-depth analysis and machine learning projects.• Automated alerting system to facilitate pro-active response to in-field issues.• Providing mechanisms to allow less technical colleagues to access data via Tableau, and Python notebooks.• Defining new telemetry requirements for software engineers to implement.• Management and mentoring.

In charge of integration and analysis of all commercial and logistics systems at multi-billion dollar rated startup. Technical and managerial lead on all projects related to the conversion of company data to insight and action. Accomplishments include:• Shaping the way the company uses its data.• Design, build and support relational data warehouse.• Many bespoke analyses including customer journey analysis and customer profiling/categorization.• Created suite of data-access tools to serve business critical data.o Introduction of data-warehousing and Tableau to the company.• Guided development and business process teams on how to include data capture and process tracking.

Technical lead at data start-up specialising in collection and analysis of motor sport data for use by broadcasters and rights holders. Compelo's purpose is to look deeper into results and technical data in order to supply insight to both motor sports commentators and broadcasters as well as race fans via online media. My role involves the construction and management of the entire data flow process; from load to analytical output. This involves the design of the relational model in which to hold Formula One data as well as the construction of a suite of python modules and scripts along with SQL procedures to load data, from various sources, into the database. I was involved in improving the quality of the data and led a couple of interns during a process of data cleaning. I also created a large set of functions, both in SQL and Python, to allow for a rich and varied analytical output to be produced from the data. The final product was an extensive MI pack focused around the current season and upcoming race which would inform commentators and broadcasters on potential talking points, this was coupled to a BI tool produced using MicroStrategy and viewable through an IPad. I also developed various tools for delivering information to commentators through a live in-race text feed. This involved the creation of simple graphical tools to allow for adhoc querying based on live race events. We also developed a simple API to allow data to be served to consumers through web based widgets.

I assisted in the design, development and support of the Winton equity databases. As a team we managed the transformation of a small-scale database into a system that could support a multiple billion dollar equity trading system. This involved introducing a whole new data model as well as revamping existing code in order to improve both the performance and stability of the system. I also played a pivotal role in the creation of monitoring systems for the flow of equity data both in and out of the databases. These monitoring systems gave us the confidence in our processes required by a systematic fund. A major achievement was the redevelopment of the way in which corporate actions are modelled within Winton’s data structure. This work allowed for a much higher level of granularity to be obtained by both Winton’s trading systems and research departments. Further to this I produced MI reports for senior management within the company.

My role involved providing business intelligence and analysis to many different parts of the group as well as the management of business critical BI systems. To do this I used various technologies such as SQL, Business Objects and MS Office. I was tasked with the production of accurate reports and presentation of statistical summaries via Excel. Through this I gained a strong knowledge of excel and its functions along with experience with using macros and exposure to VBA. During my time at Lloyds I worked on multiple large-scale projects. These included the ‘Commercial end 2 end lending project’ where I provided new business intelligence as well as up scaling and automating existing MI procedures. This project was of top priority to the firm during a period of intense government scrutiny over banks providing more commercial lending.
