Representative projectsTechnical Leadership: David is AMEC’s Technical Integration Lead for an RWMDIntegrated Project Team focusing on the disposability of high-heat-generating waste[i,ii].David is also leading Phase 2 of RWM’s Concepts Development Integrated Project. Davidhas an excellent understanding of the Engineered Barrier System for both bentonite[i]andcement based systems. He leads a series of projects in SKB’s EBS Task Force for BRIEexperiment, the Buffer Rock Interaction Experiment (BRIE)[i], the Verification, Sensitivity, andPrototype Repository Tasks. These important field experiments and modelling tasks provideimportant insight in the use of engineering barrier materials in repository systems.Previously, David led repository design assessment work for Posiva to investigate the optionof having either a distant ramp or spiral access to the ONKALO spent fuel disposal facility.David was recently involved in the 2nd IAEA Expert mission to Fukushima to provide adviceand review of the work of KEPCO – this included conceptual designs for radioactive wastemanagement and waste disposal.
