I am a seasoned RF/FPGA systems engineer with over 4 years of experience working with xilinx ultrascale/ultrascale+, and 7-series FPGA's leveraging VHDL based solutions for interfacing with various mixed signal and offboard components. Experience with several standard interfaces/protocols such as SPI, UART, Gigabit Ethernet (GMII, RGMII, SGMII), and DDR3/DDR4 with Xilinx's MIG. Designed RF boards to allow for fine control over a wide dynamic range across the HF, VHF, UHF, and SHF bands. Experience with full PCB design process ranging from layer-stack impedance calculations, trace widths for 50 ohm match, via stitching and fencing, substrate material selection, and directly interfacing with board house. Deployed custom VHDL firmware for interfacing with RF DAC's and RF DAC based development boards. Spearheaded development of RF test automation to cut down the amount of engineering time necessary for full RF chain-testing. RF duties also included performing link-budget calculations and noise analysis of RF chain (custom PCBs and COTS parts), delegating tasks to other engineers/interns and technicians where necessary and overseeing their development.
