I was part of the Vallourec Management System team working as a Lean (continuous improvement) engineer.My main role was to lead and manage continuous improvement teams (CITs) and small projects based on improvement road maps that have been established for each of the different production units within the plant. The CITs and projects all followed the DMAICS methodology and can cover various lean techniques such as VSM, SMED and pull flow.As part of my development, I was selected to participate in and have successfully completed a specialized master's degree in lean management where I have spent 11 weeks studying at a University in Paris. I am now also trained to green & black belt level in six sigma.I was also part of a group of internal trainers within Vallourec and have conducted training sessions on lean management in the UK, France and Germany.

My role was part of the Global Continuous Improvement (CI) team, predominantly based in Scotland but have spent time working in various manufacturing sites in China and Mexico. I report directly to the Global Continuous Improvement manager and Business Transformation Director.Roles and Responsibilities;• Evaluation and analysis of waste and efficiency performance of each of Worldmarks manufacturing sites, highlighting poor performance and data integrity issues. Working with the local teams to identify areas of improvement and support in the implementation of CI activity and reporting.• Create and provide global work instructions across the organization detailing best practice shop floor data collection, visual management procedures and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).• Based in different manufacturing sites, train the local teams on establishing shop floor visual management techniques and assist in the implementation of such tools. Conduct internal shop floor audits of each sites adherence to visual management, providing daily analysis to the local management team and global CI manager in order to drive performance forward.Key Achievements;• Successfully provided on-site training and support to the Chinese and Mexican manufacturing teams in order to establish shop floor visual management, improve shop floor data collection and introduce continuous improvement activity and reporting.• I was selected to participate in, and successfully completed, the Worldmark Graduate Programme which consisted of a group project on competitor analysis which was presented to the Senior Management Team.
