Housewright has published 25 novels. Housewright has won numerous advertising and marketing awards creating, writing and producing TV and radio spots, videos, print ads, direct mail, outdoor boards, brochures, catalogs, newsletters, pr releases, web site content, flash emails, electronic newsletters, and CD-ROM programs for a diverse universe of consumer and B2B clients. His experience was gained working for several Twin Cities advertising agencies such as Blaisdell & Westlie, DBK&O, Kamstra Communications and my own shop Gerber-Housewright as well as Andersen Windows. Among his responsibilities was maintaining the quality of the agency’s creative product, nurturing strong agency-client relationships, directing and supervising the work of employees as well as outside vendors, and making concise and informative presentations before groups large and small. On occasion, Housewright will teach a book-writing course titled: "Brick-By-Brick: How to Write a Novel" (similar to a course on the Modern American mystery novel that he taught at the University of Minnesota). Divided into 12 two-hour sessions, the course explores the elements that make up a well-written novel - idea generation, plotting, structure, character development, dialogue, setting, point of view, and research - through lectures, assignment critique and in-class writing exercises. Particular attention is paid to turning "real-life" events into stories with a bite. Time is also spent on the publishing process.
