• Lead Writer: CDP One, Cloudera Studio. Led a five-writer documentation team developing new content for SaaS products. Outlined content, set up build infrastructure, and collaborated with Engineering, PM, UX, Field teams, and component writers. • Security Documentation Lead. Led a four writer documentation team. Subject matter included authentication and authorization (including Apache Ranger access control), encryption (data-at-rest, data-in-motion, FIPS), and cloud shared responsibility documentation. • Data Migration Documentation Lead. Led a team of fifteen writers in producing a Data Migration Guide. • Wrote content explaining installation, configuration, and administration of Cloudera Data Platform (CDP) services (on-prem, PaaS, and SaaS). You can see my recent work at docs.cloudera.com. Subject matter included CDP Management Console and CDP Runtime components, including YARN, HDFS, Ranger, Atlas, Spark, and Zeppelin. Topic areas also included containerization (Docker, Kubernetes). • Used the Oxygen XML authoring tool to produce content. Used GitHub for source control. Published content on Amazon Web Services. Also used markdown/Jekyll to produce online Help. • Wrote tutorials for the Hortonworks sandbox that demonstrated the functionality of the Hortonworks platform. Topics included how to install and configure the Hortonworks ODBC drivers, refining data with the Hortonworks platform, and analyzing data with 3rd-party BI tools (Excel, Tableau). • Installed test clusters on local and Cloud Linux instances. Verified feature functionality and confirmed the technical accuracy of the documentation. • Wrote white papers describing Hortonworks platform integration with other platforms (Informatica) and analytic applications (Excel, Tableau). • Awards: Commitment code badge (2023, 2024), “Unsung Hero” award (2018).

• Developed documentation for the DataRobot data analytics software platform. • Initially authored API documentation using Sphinx/.rst markup. Used Curl to test all REST API routes and methods. Documented and tested Python SDK code samples. Evaluated API documentation frameworks and wrote an API functional specification. Migrated the API documentation to the Swagger API framework. Used the Swagger code editor (YAML) to generate a .json configuration file for the DataRobot APIs. Produced HTML API documentation with dynamic "try it" code samples. Use Swagger codegen to generate client libraries in multiple languages. Customized the Swagger UI framework to reflect DataRobot branding. • Evaluated authoring tools (Madcap Flare and Oxygen). Established an Oxygen/DITA authoring process using GitHub for source control. Customized Oxygen (.css, .xsl transforms) HTML and .pdf output to reflect DataRobot branding. Produced user guides, installation guides, and online Help for the DataRobot data analytics software platform.• Used self-directed learning and company training sessions to gain an understanding of data analytics and machine learning. • Developed SDK documentation for M2M (Machine-to-Machine) cloud-based SaaS software used to manage connected devices. • Wrote API and Web services (including REST services) documentation for a developer audience.• Information sources included developers, product managers, functional specifications, and reviewing source code. • Reviewed and edited functional specifications, javadoc (method signatures, parameters, code examples), error messages, and source code. • SDK included code samples of platform programming languages (Groovy, C#, Java) and Web services (WSDL, XML, SOAP, JSON, REST).• Project Lead on next-generation developer documentation project. Researched content delivery systems, wrote functional specification with content and delivery requirements, conducted project meetings to solicit stakeholder feedback and buy-in. • Attended two DITA training workshops (basic and advanced DITA publishing). Subject matter included DITA 1.2, XML authoring tools, information mapping and content typing, DITA maps, single-sourcing/reuse, metadata, and implementing a DITA authoring environment using the DITA Open Toolkit.

As Lead Technical Writer, developed product and regulatory documentation for a Class II medical device (a dental imaging system). Reviewed, organized, and edited quality system documentation to comply with FDA CFR 21 Part 820, ISO 13485, IEC 60601, MDD 93/42 EC M5, and other relevant medical device quality standards. Wrote GMP training presentations, and conducted training on compliance with CFR21 Part 820. Participated in GMP compliance, product validation, and transfer to production. Wrote and edited quality system documents (SOPs). Produced and organized documents required for a 510(k) premarket submission. Wrote user guides, installation guides, service manuals, and quick-start guides. Conducted training on 510(k) requirements. Involved in implementing CDRH human factors design recommendations. Assisted with verification and validation documentation and testing, including usability testing.

As a Senior Technical Writer in a globally dispersed Agile software development environment, produced documentation for a Web-based e-learning portal (the Online Learning Exchange) used by college instructors and students. Wrote front-end and back-end (schema-based) content upload training procedures for bulk content uploads. Managed interactions between development team and editorial group, triaged content ingestion issues, and participated in automation efforts. Wrote Excel macros using VBA. Planned and implemented context-sensitive online Help systems using Madcap Flare. Conducted remote (web-based) training sessions using Webex.
