Reengineered operations and restructured staffing to become aligned with the mission, vision and strategic plan for a multi-state consortium of Secretaries/Commissioners of Health and Human Services in New England. Developed role into lead person for a national conference of 1400 attendees, managing all aspects of planning and operations. Highlights of accomplishments: Successfully reengineered operations for the national conference (Medicaid Enterprise Systems Conference) resulting in improved efficiencies and profit.Coordinated the work efforts of multi-state workgroups – Long Term Services & supports, Durable Medical Equipment, Health Information Technology, and All Payer Database(s) – to provide a forum for state participants to share solutions to common problems.Increased the use of technology (e.g., Constant Contact, Survey Monkey, and CVENT) within organizational operations to reduce work efforts and maximize resources.Facilitated the development and implementation of NESCSO’s strategic plan leading to clearer direction for the organization and our members.Developed and implemented a plan to restructure staffing and organizational resources to make NESCSO’s work efforts more valuable to member organizations.

Established the role of this new senior leadership position to enhance revenue opportunities with private payers and to provide assistance in the transition from publicly funded care. Effectively manages four departments – patient accounts, patient services health benefit advisors, credentialing – (24.5 FTEs) to ensure that best practices are established to enhance revenue flow. Highlights of accomplishments:Successfully implemented a new practice management system and conversion to paperless charge capture.Fostered improved communication and cooperation with key operational departments. Decreased late/missing encounter rate by eighty-one percent (81%).Initiated a process of routine analysis of payer reimbursement schedules to ensure adequacy of charges.Established a business planning process to ensure cost-impact analysis as part of strategic decision making.

Effectively managed work teams and project activities to meet established time frames and schedules. Represented the Society at external events and as a senior representative in local health policy coalitions. Management of health policy and research department (1.5 FTE). Highlights of accomplishments:Lead manager for major projects and initiatives including the Physician Workforce Study, Physician Practice Environment Index, Physician Supply Report, State of the State’s Health Care Leadership Forum, and the Patient Safety Forum. Efficiently facilitated the development of inter/intra-departmental work plans for implementation of projects (e.g., Society policies and position statements).
