The Liquid Grid (TLG) was founded in 2016 with a mission to transition society towards a sustainable blue economy using clean energy technologies. Through analytical reporting and interviews, TLG engages with businesses, communities, and entrepreneurs at the heart of the blue economy to accelerate the deployment of marine technologies to decarbonize energy production and maritime transport.

Commissioned into the US Navy Reserve Strategic Sealift Officer program in 2009 and have since served in various maritime roles, from supporting maintenance operations on Maritime Administration Ready Reserve vessels, to advising emissions reduction projects for US vessels.

Led Flexport's sustainability programs, helping companies large and small mitigate Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions produced through their freight transportation. Oversaw contract negotiations with vendors, developed sales plans, performed data analytics, and regularly engaged with clients. Launched a book and claim offering for low-carbon transport fuels. Also oversaw internal efforts to manage and mitigate Flexport's own greenhouse gas footprint, including annual GHG assessment and disclosure through CDP.

On-detail to the US Department of Energy served as a maritime decarbonization lead, advising on maritime R&D topics including: electrification, alternative fuels, energy efficiency, green shipping corridors, port infrastructure, and more. Facilitated collaboration with other offices, agencies, and governments on maritime decarbonization. Drafted the first national maritime decarbonization strategy, contributing author to the National Blueprint for Transportation Decarbonization, and co-author of the US Framework for Green Shipping Corridors. Performing data analysis on the U.S. fleet of recreational and commercial vessels using statistical methods. Served as a the US delegate to the Mission Innovation Zero-emission Shipping Mission.

As a Marine engineer contractor at the US Department of Energy's Water Power Technologies Office (WPTO) I consulted on marine renewable energy technology projects and market development. Helped establish a new R&D initiative investigating off-grid and offshore applications for small-scale marine energy systems called Powering the Blue Economy.

Advised large defense organizations and U.S. Navy on manufacturing and maintenance operations of the F-35 program using system dynamics, optimization modeling, and data visualization in Tableau and R.

Liquid Robotics builds and operates fleets of unmanned surface vehicles for a wide range of oceanographic and defense applications. These Wave Gliders rely entirely on wave and solar energy for electrical power and propulsion and are able to stay out on missions for up to a year, all the while collecting data on the ocean environment and delivering it to clients in real-time.As a mission support specialist I oversaw the entire lifecycle of a vehicle. From mission planning, environmental due diligence, and vehicle deployment to mission execution and vehicle recovery. Working as part of a small team, we provided 24/7 piloting for a fleet of Wave Gliders operating all over the world's oceans. I worked closely with clients and internal teams to monitor and deliver vehicle data, troubleshoot electrical and hardware systems, and ensure vehicles accomplished all mission objectives safely and efficiently.

Served as a licensed Marine Engineer Officer on large commercial vessels engaged in world-wide trade carrying various types of cargoes. Operated and maintained high-pressure marine boilers and steam turbines; large slow-speed diesel engines, electrical generator equipment; and auxiliary systems like seawater desalination units, wastewater treatment facilities, and oil purifiers. Oversaw unlicensed crew members, supervising maintenance activities and ensuring adherence to environmental and safety regulations.
