Project ManagerTouchwood Design Ltd Nov 2007 - Feb 2009Designed and project managed a site in Dawlish consiting of 58 timber framed units. Negotiated with local Planners to redesign parts of the site and coordinated approvals, despatching all planning conditions. Collated information from the clients and end users incorporating the necessary design criteria, cost planning and detailed specification to produce a detailed Business Case Study for the proposed project.Introduced retaining walls and the splitting of the site into private, social and flats for rent areas. Implemented Section 38 and amended Section 106 for roads, public rights of way and public areas, including tree preservation and environmentally friendly aspects to all types of species found on site. Savings of £300,000+ were achieved for the client on the overall development costs on the site.

Freelance Architectectural ConsultantTouchwood Design Ltd Sep 2006 - Oct 2007Designed and managed a new drugs reform building for the SLaM Authority in Brixton, London. Responsibilities included organising and dealing with site management, producing a Design Brief, Schedule of Works, Cost Plan and negotiating with the District Surveyor on Means of Escape regulations part L, Progressive Collapse and the 106 Agreement required by the Planning Authority. Design details included original plans and elevations, redesigned showing the basement with structural waterproofing as well as lifts, roofs and means of escape from the building. An in-depth study was produced for the client in order to ensure handover within a tight time schedule and to strict financial budget. This project consisted of both public and private sector involvement, requiring an understanding of both areas in order to bring this project to a successful and financially viable handover.

Architecture In Oak & Timber FrameOak Craft, Homsely Dec 2004 - Aug 2006Acted as Architect in the design, manufacture and selling of oak framed buildings. The following work was carried out: roof truss designs, swimming pool buildings, large houses, barn conversions. Introduced particular types of timber frame analysis and design. Worked in the saw mills producing jointing systems, oak framed trusses, post and beam, to achieve the required designs. During this period also designed and built several extensions in timber frame for clients houses and refurbished two listed barns, as well as gaining licences for two hotels and extensive refurbishment work on these properties.

Project ManagerMj Gleeson Southern Construction Jun 2003 - Nov 2004£30m re-development of Salisbury District Hospital, including provision of a new 9000m² extension to existing building, providing 135 beds and specialist burns treatment facility plus an industrial laundry facility to cater for 300,000 items per week. Responsible for the project management process from conception of the project to completion and handover of the finished structure. Ensured compliance with contractual documents, negotiation with the NHS and hospital bodies on all planning issues (both internally and externally), compliance with building control and client requirements, as well as build and engineering ability. A formalised budget plan had to be put before the General Committee and Financial Budget agreed by Gleeson's and the NHS Trust, whilst also taking into account an element of private funding. A major element within this PFI project was the setting up of a maintenance company by Gleeson's, that was passed on to the hospital after a period of 20 years, which subsequently secured the contract. Responsible for the control and coordination of the consultant design team for the project. In depth knowledge was imperative to ensure that sound advice could be given to all bodies involved. Other responsibilities included the implementation of design protocols and development of new procedures as well as bid preparation for future PFI and D&B works.
