Dedicated resource providing supplemental network engineering and architecture services to OSHEAN, a research and education network serving Rhode Island. OSHEAN is a customer of the Indiana University GlobalNOC.

Supervise a team of network engineers providing network engineering services to statewide research & education networks (RENs). These are large provider networks interfacing with ISPs and research networks, serving primarily higher education, research, healthcare, state/local government and K12 as well as other related sectors. In addition to supervision, personally assist our customers as needed with network design and troubleshooting. Reverse engineer customer networks, network segments and member services for the purpose of diagramming, documenting, support and training.Working daily with wide variety of network hardware from Cisco, Juniper, Arista, Ubiquiti, Fortinet and Adva. Networking solutions range from transport to upstream ISPs & Internet2 to member only services such as personal WANs constructed with Layer2 VPLS or EVPN or L3VPN. Also supporting a number of enterprise level services such as, multi-tenant firewalls, managed border routers for internet & cloud connectivity, cloud hosted DNS, web & DNS filtering, SDWAN, P2P wireless and cloud connectivity.

Managed networking vendor relationships, interacting with those vendors to build and price solutions, expand existing infrastructure and monitor new product offerings that might benefit the enterprise. Tested networking solutions for various network connectivity needs, and offered design/implementation suggestions, to the network engineering team. Modeled networking projects in a lab to validate expected operation and test new OS features. Provided project documentation and estimated costs to leadership. Authored and executed, RFPs for upgrades to various enterprise networking technologies such as data center switching, 802.11 wireless, edge switching, core routing, virtual-network and data center firewalls. The scope of the projects were varied with projects pertaining to the two main campuses at Indianapolis and Bloomington, regional campuses, either of two data centers. Also assisted academic departments in estimating cost, obtaining hardware and connectivity for campus needs and for new construction at satellite locations around the state.

Managed a staff of 14 network engineers in the day to day operations of the IUB and IUPUI campus network, including two data centers. Provided project management for network hardware and systems upgrade/refresh projects and RFPs. Participated in various enterprise level committees to provide operational input on regulatory and organizational requirements such as HIPAA, PCIDSS, business continuity and disaster recovery.

Assisted physicians with the Cerner Powerchart electronic medical record. Participated in building and testing modifications requested by the physicians to the EMR. Attended meetings contributing to the future of the EMR and it's components.
