David is a Reconstructive Plastic Surgeon with a special interest in reconstructive microsurgery, hand surgery, surgical research, and medical education. He is an Associate Professor with the Monash University Department of Surgery. He is the Deputy Director of Surgery, Director of surgical research, lead physician for the skin multidisciplinary cancer service and senior surgeon for the Peninsula Health Network in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. He is an examiner in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and mentors and trains advanced Plastic surgery trainees. He is a member of the both the Australian and American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the AMA, The Victorian Hand Surgery Society, the International Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (IPRAS), and he is a Fellow of The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons. He has a Masters in public health, which has broadened his outlook on surgery as a public health priority and has been involved in clinical and training aid programs to Bangladesh, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Myanmar, and Tuvalu. A number of which have been AusAID programs for the Australian government.His research interests focus around quality of life outcomes and how the implementation of new technology improves the functional performance status of individuals and organizations.His private practice is on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, Australia. He is married to Gabrielle, has three children who are at various stages of college and university life.
