I lead, motivate and inspire our officers to deliver a high quality service and work alongside other emergency services and agencies to deliver public services at critical times. I ensure the highest standard of leadership is shown & all procedures and policies are adhered to with diligence and professionalism whilst maintaining a strong spirit of teamwork & professionalism.I've been an Officer for 21yrs, starting as a Special Constable before becoming a Regular PC. I've worked as an Emergency Response Officer, Traffic Officer, Tutor, Mentor & Assessor, Public Order & Method of Entry Trainer, Tactical Medic, Patrol Sergeant, Custody Sergeant, Critical Incident Inspector and a Force Incident Manager in our Force Control Room (FCR). My role in the FCR saw me carrying out arguably the most challenging of Inspector ranked roles. My responsibilities were vast & include management of FCR functions from call handling to incident management. I am responsible for management of operational/organisational threat and risk at the tactical level; primarily the management of pursuits, spontaneous firearms operations and the allocation of force wide police resources as we respond to calls for service. I give oversight and direction to the initial response to incidents as well as the investigation of offences/crimes, particularly those involving vulnerable people such as missing people and child sexual exploitation. I'm also a Public Order Commander and Police Federation Rep and I've experience of reviewing and writing policy documents. I've published and presented training packages on Immersive Exercising around managing FCR response to a terrorr attack.I worked nationally on high level projects and coordination of policy and processes with the NPCC, Home Office and key stakeholders during the UK response to the Covid pandemic and since returning to North Yorkshire I have worked as operational commander in the policing of a large geographical area. Since 2022 I have been head & deputy head of the forces Learning and Development department managing a multidisciplinary team of people, programmes of learning and their review and implementation, projects and budgets with high level accountability and scrutiny and to improve the overall service given by all who work in and pass through the department as staff or student.
