As well as continuing my work on enhancing the learning disability evidence base in Scotland, I am also currently working as part of the Scottish Health Equity Research Unit (SHERU) on a programme of research aimed at improving health and tackling inequalities in Scotland. This is a collaboration between the Fraser of Allander Institute and the University of Strathclyde - Humanities & Social Sciences' Centre for Health Policy, funded by The Health Foundation.I am leading on enhancing the evidence base, looking at opportunities to improve the utility and accessibility of data related to socio-economic and health inequalities in Scotland.

On secondment, supporting an innovative programme of research concerning the lives of people with learning disabilities. My primary focus being to improve the evidence base by exploring how data and statistical coverage can be enhanced in Scotland.

I worked alongside a range of partners to connect accredited researchers to Scotland's public sector data and enhance the conditions for data-driven research in the public good.

I had lead responsibility for the production and on-going development of published sectoral skills assessments, providing insight into current and future skills demand in the key sectors across Scotland. I provided evidence and analytical expertise to assist both internal business areas and external partners. This included supporting the priority actions as set out in the Climate Emergency Skills Action Plan and contract managing both academic and consultancy, led research.I worked closely alongside the Scottish Funding Council to inform skills alignment by developing improved insights to help understand the demand and supply of skills across a range of sectors and regions in Scotland. This included playing a leading role in the collaboration between Skills Development Scotland and the Scottish Funding Council to help increase the supply of skills to meet the needs of employers providing early learning and childcare in preparation for the Scottish Government's policy expansion programme.I also provided SDS sponsorship support to a student enrolled on the organisation's successful PhD programme.

I was the lead analyst for environmental and transport tax forecasting at Scotland's official, independent economic and fiscal forecaster. I was also responsible for forecasting expenditure on newly devolved social security benefits and services. I undertook forecast evaluations and had a leading role in the publication of the Commission's first ever Statement of Data Needs in response to recommendations made by the Scottish Parliament's Economy, Jobs and Fair Work Committee.

I worked for the national skills body for Scotland, managing two teams responsible for:📊 the development and production of professionally published statistical reports, meeting the standards set out in the UK Statistics Authority Code of Practice for Statistics🚦 operational, service and corporate level performance reporting📈 analysis to inform policy/service delivery and support continuous improvement💡 enhancing the reporting and business intelligence capability of the organisationI played a lead role in Skills Development Scotland being confirmed in legislation as a producer of Official Statistics at the end of 2019. I was also central to the development and reporting of the Annual Participation Measure - a key policy outcome indicator in the Scottish Government's National Performance Framework.

I worked in a number of analytical/policy areas across the Scottish Government - Education, Employability & Skills, Labour Market, Economic Indicators (OCEA) and Justice.📚 Education – Statistics Branch Head, where I managed the team responsible for school attainment, school leaver destinations, free school meals, physical education, school pupil census, teacher census, school estates, attendance, absence and exclusion statistics for Scotland. I had a lead role in representing the Scottish Government’s interests in the Eurydice Network, including at roundtable meetings held at the European Commission in Brussels. This coincided with a period where I was also responsible for undertaking policy analysis, intelligence gathering and horizon scanning across the Education portfolio.💼 Employability and Skills – I worked closely with Skills Development Scotland on the development of their quarterly Modern Apprenticeships statistics, progress towards Official Statistics status and the creation of an Annual Participation Measure for Scotland.👔 Labour Market – I was the lead statistician for quarterly Public Sector Employment statistics for Scotland.💷 Office of the Chief Economic Adviser (OCEA) – I worked on quarterly GDP statistics for Scotland, with responsibility for the service sector. I also developed and published the quarterly Retail Sales Index for Scotland statistics.🚔 Justice – I was the lead statistician for Recorded Crime in Scotland, Police Strength and Firearm Certificates in Scotland statistics.

I was part-seconded from the Scottish Government to HM Inspectorate of Constabulary in Scotland, where I supported the development and reporting of the Scottish Policing Performance Framework (SPPF).

I worked in the Office of the Chief Economic Adviser (OCEA) on export statistics and supported data collection for the Global Connections Survey.
