As the Area Driver Training Manager, I am responsible for managing a Driver Training Center, which includes: the management, administration and coordination of all driver-related training activities. This position facilitates the driver training programs to train and educate drivers about proper vehicle inspection, safe vehicle operation and defensive driving techniques. In addition, an emphasis is placed on the Company’s Focus 6 program. This program assists drivers in meeting both, The Republic Services and Department of Transportation (DOT) safety standards, before operating on the road. All drivers are fully trained in the safe operation of solid waste and recycling collection vehicles. In addition, the Area Driver Training Manager coordinates with Business Unit Managers in the area to forecast hiring and scheduling needs to ensure that fully trained drivers are qualified and available for service as needed.• Train and educate new and existing drivers and helpers on the proper procedures for completing all vehicle inspections in compliance with the company’s and the DOT’s policies and standards.• Conduct and facilitate in-cab and classroom training for new and existing drivers, as well as helpers. I ensure that all the drivers and helpers are fully trained with respect to defensive driving skills and the safe operation of all vehicles used for the collection, transport and disposal of solid waste and recyclable materials.• Administer appropriate tests to determine the drivers’ proficiency in the company’s procedures, safe equipment operation and defensive driving; maintain all the required training records.• Conduct road tests of driver candidates to assess and evaluate driving skills; provide input on the hiring decisions based on the results of road test and the recommend post-employment training. Responsibilities included but not limited to checking open & pending F2 notes and that there were no notes open or pending 7 days old or older, open & pending ESC2nd902 and ESC3rd902 and ensured that all ESCs were handled promptly and properly. I was responsible to make sure that all of the dispatch opening and closing procedures were followed in accordance with Republic Services’ policy and procedures. I supervised dispatchers to ensure the highest level of customer service was maintained at all times, including but not limited to F2 notes, phones, radios, walk-ins and e-mail requests. I also, coached, trained and enforced the company’s policies and procedures including but not limited to dress code, attendance, ethical behavior and most important enforcing Republic Services’ safety procedures for all employees and visitors. I conducted daily and monthly safety meetings with dispatch personnel, making sure that they were aware of; the daily and monthly safety messages, Focus 6 topic and OSHA trainings. Other daily tasks included maintaining the hydration station, assisted drivers to fill out their daily paper work, maintaining 12 HR Log files, KRONOS, answering e-mails from sales, customer service and other supervisors / managers requests. In addition, to the daily Dispatch duties, I made myself available to answer any questions or concerns about safety or training. I maintained the Gardena Hauling’s Monitor Network system and other safety and training signage. I ensured that adequate levels of personal protective equipment (PPE) were available at all times. I worked with vendors ensuring that we are getting the best price for gloves, hard hats, earplugs, dust masks and vests while maintaining the quality to help prevent injuries to employees. I also, coordinated the set-up of the training room, ordered catering and needed supplies for trainings.

Morning SMARTDRIVE included: retraining with drivers, gate keeper, morning stretches, delivered a relevant morning safety message, ensured drivers did proper pre-trip inspection i.e. brake checks, paper work, truck inspection, work with morning shop personnel to make sure any problems that would keep drivers in yard were taking care of in a timely manner; to limit truck down time. I updated the drivers’ Grading Tracker daily, performed daily retraining with drivers in the field, maintained Gardena Hauling’s monitor network with up to date information, worked on special projects given to me by management staff. I also developed specialized interactive trainings for drivers, ranging from safety topics to proper paperwork completion. As an active member of safety committee and Orange Team Leader, I was personally responsible for modifying many of the forms used on a daily basis by drivers, dispatchers and supervisors. I ensured that the division had proper levels of PPE on hand for drivers’ safety; I was and continue to be a driving force for safe work practices.Route observations/retraining, both ride along and followed behind to ensure safety procedures were being followed; worked with drivers in the PM to see that all post-trip inspections were completed and addressed any problems with the shop to see that problems were corrected to minimize truck down time. Showed monthly Focus 6 training videos in the PM and ensured that all the drivers watched and understood. Reported and followed up on accidents to ensure that all accidents that were assigned to me were investigated and reported in a timely manner, helped to ensure that all company drivers that dumped at Sunshine Canyon were doing so in a safe and timely manner, and helped resolved problems t
