Quality Assurance Specialist Incoming Inspection
In 2015, the company wanted to implement a Quality Clinic for incoming inspection. For this, a week-long workshop was done for its implementation and it was decided at the end of the workshop that I could lead it as PQA.What is a Quality Clinic:The Quality Clinic is a place where open communication about quality is encouraged and issues are discussed and followed up daily in a well-defined team (SQA, SQC and others). My role in the Quality Clinic is to receive and analyze the internal complaints received from production, SQC and customer complaints with the corresponding blueprints and specifications, discuss my findings of this with the Quality Clinic core tream, define the problem and initiate and follow up the necessary actions internally and externally as well as direct people in their role of the problem.Internally, I organize the containment actions to see if the discovered problem does not occur on other lots or similar parts, list it and make a complaint to the supplier. The supplier then has time to respond according to the IDIWIM (1 Day containment / 1 Week root cause analysis / 1 Month corrective action) system. All this data and analysis is monitored in a logbook and KPI's are created to track supplier quality. All issues are documented with an 8D document to follow up and close the action plans and prevent the issues from recurring. If we do not need the products immediately I send them back after discussion with the supplier or create a repair order or in case of complex repairs I ask the MRB department to set this up to have the parts repaired internally and recover the cost from the supplier with the help of the purchasing department. Everything in the Quality Clinic is transparent and clearly visible to everyone where and with whom the problems are. This is a very good tool for making problems clear and solving them and comes over from Japan and is based on lean principles.
Supplier Quality Control Lead
6 years after my appointment as Supplier Quality Controller, I received the offer to become Lead (supervisor) of this department and became department head of 8 people. Here I had to lead and coordinate the SQC activities and lead the SQC team to ensure that the products meet the requirements of the company, customers and official authorities and implement and follow up on the necessary action plans. As well as ensuring and monitoring a safe and ergonomic working environment and organization, taking into account lean principles. I also had to ensure that employees obtained the necessary qualifications and provide the necessary training and support during complex inspections. Bringing internal and external audits to a successful conclusion, coordinating and distributing priorities imposed by logistics and operations across the entire team and following up on their implementation were also part of my duties.
Supplier Quality Controller
After several months of working in the warehouse, I received an offer to start working as a Supplier Quality Controller. This has been the beginning of a long and very interesting learning project for me. In the process, I had to learn back into plan reading and measuring with micrometers, calipers and other measuring instruments needed during the inspection of mechanical parts. This position required checking purchased products through measurement and certification check of supplier certificates to then validate and ensure they meet company, customer and government requirements. Non-conformances required reporting to the Quality Assurance department through rejection reports.
Warehouse Team Member
At the job, I learned to work with mapics to do inventory management of goods. My tasks in this job were to receive goods from suppliers and prepare them for incoming inspection. After this this had to be stored and taken out on manufacturing orders to be machined on CNC machines, lathes or for the assembly department. This job was my first exposure to high-tech parts for aerospace.
Forklift Driver
During my job at Mercedes, I was looking for a permanent position and got an offer at Asco Industries as a forklift operator. This position involved me doing internal transport of parts by forklift.I did this position there for a month at most and was asked to become an employee in the warehouse since my experience at Mercedes.
Warehouse Team Member
This was an temporay job (interim) I did just after my studies. This involved taking all kinds of parts out of stock and shipping them to Mercedes branches all over Belgium. In this job, I learned to work with the computer and industrial machines such as a forklift.
