My main focus is on safety, production and customer quality. It is my responsibility to make sure that the run schedule is being followed and that all paper tests are meeting the specs for the grade of paper being ran. I use numerous computer programs to monitor and plan production and maintenance for the paper machine and shipping department. Safety is my top priority and a preshift meeting is conducted in order to address any safety issues and to make the crew aware of any potential risks. The days priorities are also communicated at these meetings. I write work orders if there are maintenace that needs to be scheduled in my departments and work closely with the maintenance supervisors on the lock out of equipment. Other duties include helping prep for maintenance shutdowns, approve time for my direct reports, write reports for near misses and injuries. I coach, train and develop my crew to be more succesful. Duties:I was hired as a hourly production employee after Boise Cascade had shutdown and later became a hourly Shift Supervisor. I supervised the converting plants and 3 tissue machines as well as the shipping department. I used SAP to check shipping loads and also ran month end inventory reports against SAP totals. I helped troubleshoot issues on converting equipment and the tissue machines and called on shift maintenace support to fix equipment if needed. Duties:My duties as a Shift Supervisor were to manage the safety and production of 4 paper machines, shipping, wet lap, power and recovery, pulp mill, bleach plant and the chips area. I supervised 70-80 employees on shift. Trained in incident command for hazardous materials. Used process book to monitor trends throughout the mill. Updated employee schedules and approved time. Reported any enviromental upsets through computer reporting process.

Duties:I started on the paper machines as a sixth hand and eventually worked my way all the way up the ladder to the point i was training machine tender. I was involved in many projects during my time on the machines including speed trials on the machine and new trial plans. I was a leader on the paper machine for my crew and i also enjoyed training employees to give them the knowledge and skills to be succesfull in there new roles on the machine.
