I oversaw all retail operations for the Rip Curl Flagship and Outlet locations. Reporting to and working closely with the General Manager this role focuses on the running and development of a growing store retail chain. This position’s primary roles were to promote the Rip Curl brand, provide a return on investment, and provide support for the wholesale side of the business in the short and long term interests of Rip Curl, its team members and customers.

In early 2004, a business partner and I bought the Second Wave Sports Co. and LaNina Women’s Surf & Snow. After renovating the interior, replacing the point of sale system, and implementing structured operations, the business experienced a substantial increase in sales. I opened another location, Northhill Surf Co., 2 years later in Park Royal Mall and then created a parent company, All In Management Group, to manage further growth. Throughout the 5 years, I was exposed to all aspects of owning a small business, from accounting to customer service to marketing. I developed a new brand identity including logo, web site, and marketing strategy. I installed and created a new POS system, accounting and payroll procedure, and a restructured stock management system. In 2007, Northhill was successfully launched using the same systems template as Second Wave. In summary, I was responsible for creating and driving a protable retail business with three outlets, approximately 25 staff, and annual sales of over $2 million. There was no aspect of the business operation cycle that I was not involved in.

During my time at West 49 I managed eight locations across multiple provinces and was involved extensively in the expansion of retail locations throughout western Canada. I helped open the physical locations, hire and train sta, and oversaw the preliminary operations to ensure a successful start-up. As a District Manager I was responsible for being a team leader and trainer, eectively communicating with various departrments in the organization, and increasing store productivity and protability. At West 49 I was also exposed to invaluable performance evaluations and skill improvement training through seminars, workshops, and feedback.
