About David Jauregui
Dr. David V. Jáuregui, PE, is the Interim Dean of Engineering in the College of Engineering (COE) at New Mexico State University (NMSU). He was previously the George W. Lucky Professor of Civil Engineering and Associate Dean of Academics working with the COE departments on assessment and evaluation of the undergraduate engineering and engineering technology programs for accreditation. He guides the development of undergraduate / graduate degree programs and the advancement of on-line offerings for working professionals. Dr. Jáuregui leads the effort in establishing international collaborations such as the NMSU-UACH Program Agreement for students from the Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua (UACH) to jointly pursue Bachelor of Science and Master of Engineering degrees at NMSU. At the doctoral level, he contributed to international MOUs with the Ministry of Transport-China, North China University of Technology-China, and UACH-Mexico. Dr. Jáuregui collaborates with faculty members to develop professional development opportunities via conferences, seminars, workshops and certificate training courses and he engages industry professionals in capstone courses.Dr. Jáuregui previously served as the Department Head of Civil Engineering and he supported multi-disciplinary and multi-university research programs including ReNUWIt, CBBG, Tran-SET, NAWI and QCAM. As director of the NMSU Bridge Inspection & Evaluation (BI&E) Program, he provides co-op internship opportunities for engineering students related to infrastructure asset management. Dr. Jáuregui manages the review and selection of undergraduate / graduate student scholarships and he has gained support for NMSU as a Hispanic-Serving Institution through the Dwight David Eisenhower Transportation Fellowship Program for engineering students.Dr. Jáuregui received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Civil Engineering from NMSU in 1992 and 1994, respectively, and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas-Austin in 1999. He has authored many journal articles and conference papers in the field of bridge engineering along with two book chapters: (1) "Bridge Inspection using Virtual Reality and Photogrammetry", Inspection and Monitoring Techniques for Bridges and Civil Structures; and (2) “Load Rating of Prestressed Concrete Bridges without Design Plans by Non-Destructive Field Testing”, Load Testing of Bridges: Proof Load Testing and the Future of Load Testing. Dr. Jáuregui currently serves as the Vice President of Education for NMSU on the NMSPE Board of Directors.
