About David John Baker, Ph.D.

Hello!I'm a data scientist who works on small teams that need to deliver results quickly on loosely defined problems. Right now I developing R Shiny dashboards and creating prediction/forecasting models for a handful of business-to-business consultancies. I'm based in Portland, Maine, but have clients throughout the USA and the UK. I'm now booked out for the most part until the end of 2024, but I am happy to take any discovery calls about projects starting in 2025. My areas of expertise include:- R Programming and applied stats - Turning Excel Workflows into Automated Dashboards - Data Analysis and modelling of human behavior- Music (Perception, Computation, Advertising) - Causal Inference/Experimental Design - Bayesian analysis/modelling - Teaching and formally assessing adult learners (range of classroom University and Data Science bootcamp experience) For the past six years, I worked for universities in London and Amsterdam where I combined my expertise in music perception and computation with my scientific, statistical, and software developer abilities to produce novel insights about music cognition that were published in international academic journals. During this time, my limited company was also involved in several audio branding as well as data science education projects. I also run the #musicscience feed over on BlueSky, find me there @davidjohnbaker.bsky.social
