I’m the Managing Partner of First Actuarial. I’m not particularly great at anything important, and I’m definitely not a talented mathematician, but I am able to get the best out of people which leads to happy clients. I try hard at everything I do. Fairness is really important to me, notwithstanding my unconscious biases. I have a tendency to say “there are two sides to every story,” despite knowing that the truth will often involve a third side. I don’t go to the gym, I don’t often find myself meditating at the top of high mountains and I don’t get up early to drink coloured water supplements that might help me solve life’s many problems. But I do play too much golf, and accept this will continue to puzzle most rational people. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built at First Actuarial, and I’m indebted to the brilliant team we have here for allowing my many deficiencies to remain hidden.
