He regularly attended sporting events to show his team colors for our college. During my senior year of college I was nominated student government president, as a result Dr. Joyce and I worked closely with each other to discuss what was on the minds of the students. He truly valued the voice of the students and always brought an open mind to our discussions. Part of the responsibilities that came with being the Student Government President was sitting in on Board of Trustee meetings and watching the dialogue that took place between board members and Dr. Joyce. They truly valued and respected Dr. Joyce because of the knowledge he had and the great ideas he brought to the table to make the future of Union College brighter. As an alumni of Union College I see many of those ideas he helped create become a reality for the students of the college today. Dr. Joyce, I say thank you for making my experiences at Union College such a joy, and thank you for continuing to be such a great friend today. The students at Ripon College have themselves a terrific President, but most importantly, a amazing person!"
