I was lucky enough to land a job at Harley-David’son at 20 years of age. It just happened to be at the beginning of the Company”s huge growth spurt, so the opportunities that were open to me were nearly endless. I was able to grow my skill set in many aspects of the manufacturing operations at the York facility, welding, machining, polishing, refinishing, shipping, the list goes on. An opportunity arose for me to step into a Continous Improvement role and I had the good fortune to be able to study under some of the best teachers in the world-Thomas Jacoby from General Motors, Geoff Weller from the Oliver Wyman Group, and many others in the top of their field. I took a great interest in what they had to teach me. My education was in real time on the shop floor, and has proven to be invaluable in every aspect of my life.
