Cherokee, Al

Responsible for the daily operations of the site, which included ammonia, 2 nitric acid plants, urea and ammonium nitrate production. Completed numerous projects in the nitric acid plants to improve gauze run lengths and efficiency. Redesigned a converter to take an old hexagonal gauze design to a round gauze – improved efficiency from 92% ammonia conversion to over 96% and increased gauze life from 45 days to over 100 days. Completed numerous projects in the 550 tpd Weatherly nitric acid plant to improve gauze performance and efficiency.

Baton Rouge, La

Developed software to predict the optimal length of a nitric acid gauze run and the costs associated with running too long (common problem) or too short. Software is still available.

Geismar, La

Managed three nitric acid facilities, the Ammonium Nitrate solutions production area, and Urea production. Completed numerous projects in the nitric acid plants and was heavily involved in the relocation of Chemico nitric acid plant to the site, and its subsequent start up. Continued in the role as the Lead Technical Manager for all of the nitric acid facilities owned by Arcadian. Implemented numerous projects in the nitric acid plants to improve efficiency and output, while reducing precious metal losses and improving gauze run lengths.

Savannah, Georgia Area

Managed the site which included a 550 tpd nitric acid plant, a low density ammonium nitrate plant and UAN solutions production. Increased gauze runs in the nitric acid plant from 45 days to over 120 days. Involved in many efficiency improvement projects. Became the Lead Technical Manager for all of the Arcadian nitric acid plants, which at the time numbered 12 plants. Developed best practice procedures for measuring gauze efficiency, tracking gauze metal burn losses, and many more items associated with nitric acid production.

Augusta, Georgia Area

Ran the Ammonium Nitrate production facilities. Eliminated nearly all low density prill quality issues. Implemented statistical process control techniques, streamlined quality control measures with effective results. Went from 200 complaints to only 2 while increasing production output by over 500%.
