About David Kent

Currently Managing Director of Bonham and Brook's northern UK operations and Commercial Director for the UK.Previously, I was senior leader responsible for Leyton’s business in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Northern England. I grew the business from being first hire in 2015 to a headcount in the region of 100 employees, across offices in Glasgow and Edinburgh in 2021, building a £13m turnover business in the process. I was also responsible for Leyton’s Energy services and had an integral role in the development of new tax and energy products.In 2019/2020, as part of Leyton’s continued global expansion, I was seconded to set up its first office in San Francisco, the world's most exciting and energetic tech environment.Prior to Leyton, I was MD and co-founder at Merlin. We sought innovative solutions to the challenges of minimising the carbon footprint, without impacting on the safe transportation and containment, of hazardous clinical and pharmaceutical waste streams in the UK.Prior to Merlin, I was Managing Director of Ecowaste, a clinical waste company operating over 3 locations in Scotland and England. I was brought on board to turn around this struggling business at the height of the UK financial crisis. Over a 2 year period I rationalised the business, secured funding, raised capital and managed an extremely challenging body of secured and unsecured creditors. I focused on the areas that were profitable and limited those that were not. This culminated in the successful sale of the company in 2011 to Stericycle Inc, a NASDAQ listed global provider of clinical waste solutions.My roles prior to Ecowaste were in Corporate Finance, with Barclays and latterly National Australia Group (Clydesdale Bank). These involved portfolio and credit management for SMEs and Large/Multinational Corporates. I last attended university in 2001, completing a Masters at Strathclyde Graduate Business School in Business Management. Prior to this I received a BA (Hons) in International Business & Modern Languages from the University of Strathclyde.
