I'm a community leader focused on improving the lives of others through education, opportunity, and exposure. My professional mission to help others began as a teacher in Renton, Washington, where I taught English at McKnight Middle School. I relocated to Connecticut and continued my journey in the classroom as a teacher at Granby Memorial Middle School. While teaching at GMMS, I enrolled in the UCONN NEAG School of Education and earned credentials (093), focusing on administrative leadership. In 2014, I became the Assistant Principal at Catherine McGee Middle School, where I stayed for three years. I am the current principal of Mary E. Griswold School in Berlin, CT. I led a staff of 85 adults and 500 students to strive and be kind, compassionate members of our community. Through a rigorous and relevant curriculum, I work to ignite a passion for lifelong learning in students and colleagues. In addition to my duties as the principal, I serve as a member of the district Social Justice Committee, co-chair of the Student Culture and Opportunity sub-committee, and the RULER implementation team - a systemic approach to social and emotional learning.I continue to seek educational opportunities to address the achievement gap, engage the community, and help others thrive.
