About David Kloepfer
Taking on the role of Director of my capstone film Waiting For Beckett has offered a lot of valuable experience as an introduction to a film set with a budget and legitimate positions. I Was able to get experience on the creation of a short film from the beginning of deciding on an idea, raising enough money to shoot, location scouting, sending out casting calls, and production. It was a fantastic experience that thrust me into what it takes to direct a film with the highest level of professionalism. My classes are providing me with a wide range of skills that are extremely useful in the field. I am learning how to use different, industry standard programs such as Adobe Premier and Final Draft 11. I am also getting hands on experience in different situations such as setting up lighting, using a professional switcher, formalizing myself with different cameras, and directing both narrative single camera and multi camera studio projects.Outside of the classroom, I am involved in clubs that offer consistent means of creating video content for an audience. Clubs Such as Quinnipiac Film Society and Q30 Television offer experience that I cannot receive in the classroom, such as learning how to work around any problem that may come up on set or in a live studio. Taking on the leadership role of Production Manager has taught me so much of not only what it takes to manage a television station, but has also given me confidence in my ability to lead a team of producers into creating and putting on the most creative and professional shows possible. All the skills that I am learning during my time at Quinnipiac University are all building up to prepare me for what I will inevitably experience on professional sets. I am learning how to be adaptable so that minor hiccups do not inconvenience me. Instead I will be able to work around the different problems that arise while working on a project. Also, one of the most important skills in this industry is teamwork. Being able to work with a team of people in an invaluable skill that often gets overlooked by people my age. They feel that they have to do everything themselves when that is not the case. Developing trust in the team and relying on coworkers is one of my best traits.
Listed skills include Adobe Premiere Pro, Leadership, Teamwork, Camera, and 4 others.
