While his technical skills are obvious from his resume and Linked In profile, what always stands out in my mind about him is his ability to communicate complex ideas with several moving parts in an easy to understand fashion. My favorite communication technique of his is his use of analogies, often humorous, to help explain and illustrate his message. On several occasions I laughed so hard that I could feel it in my gut. More imporantly, though, is that when the laughter was gone, the message was also in my gut. My second favorite part about David is his focus on customer satisfaction. He would sincerely concentrate on what was best for the client, even if it wasn't the easiest way for him. This really helped our project teams relationships with clients. Finally, my third favorite quality of David's is his selflessness in our project team environments. While similiar to the focus he put on our external customers, he does the same with the internal team he is on. It's rare to find an engineer with the intelligence, people skills, and understanding of the importance of teamwork within projectized, matrix organizations. His ideas and concepts were always well thought out, and considered the maximum benefit to large, diversified base of stakeholders that were the norm in our projects. As a program manager, I would make every effort to see that David Knowles was assigned to my projects at every opportunity."
