About David Koch

I am a founding partner of Plave Koch PLC, a boutique law firm focused on franchising, licensing, and branded distribution. My practice focuses on structuring franchise programs and licensing arrangements, private equity investments in franchising, supply chain issues, franchise regulatory compliance, antitrust counseling, advertising and marketing, and international expansion. I've spoken at numerous franchise legal and business conferences and seminars, including programs in Italy, Japan, India, Guatemala, Poland, Romania, England and Canada. I've authored or co-authored more than 40 published articles and conference papers. I have also served as Editor-in-Chief of The Franchise Lawyer, the newsletter of the American Bar Association’s Forum on Franchising. I'm listed in Best Lawyers in America, the Franchise Times “Legal Eagles,” and Who’s Who Legal.Before entering private practice, I was attorney-advisor to the Chairman of the Federal Trade Commission. I also worked in the Illinois legislature and as a staff attorney at the FTC. I graduated cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School and received my undergraduate degree in economics with high honors from the University of Iowa.
